Lucky

My wife and I have two cats. They are always good for a laugh or two and are great for keeping blood pressures in check. Nice story, Laura. Thanks.

yes. we have to have a sense of humanity.
I give something to cats whenever I go a nearby restaurant and liver or meat ordered.
cats here have a behavior of people. they can now who is kind and who is cruel.
They can look at you as just beggars do, depending on how much hunger they have.

You can only know if you ever begged. I didn't beg but I have empathy.

I LOVE this story!  I likewise rescued three baby birds in a nest on a porch where I lived late one night when their mama did not come back.  I knew something was wrong because a bird would NEVER leave her babies like that in the night.  I took them inside, wrapped them in tissue, and fed them through the night with a mixture of water, egg and bread crumbs.  Took them to work at an office next day and I worked at an old hospital in the publicity dept.  Likewise hid them in a box in the drawer, and when fellow workers heard them, they put a B.I.C.U. (Bird Intensive Care Unit) sign on my door and helped me too.  A few nights later I called some old friends - the husband was from Yugoslavia and he knew a lot about wild birds, so they agreed to take the one fellow left. Two of the birds died from respiratory ailments while I still had them, but the third bird had a strong will to live and he did!  We named him peepers as he sang in bed with me when I would hold him in my hands and...
