38キロの道のりで、この行程で最も長い一日を終え、ついにローマ人が世界の果てと考えていた場所に足を踏み入れました。フランスのサン・ジャン・ピエ・ド・ポーからスペイン最西端のフィニステレ岬まで、長く興味深い旅でした。
このような巡礼が私たちの人生にどれほどの影響を与えるかは、想像もできません。灯台の岩に座り、人生で最も美しい夕日を眺めていると、900キロの旅の完璧な終わりに思えます。
37日間の歩みを通して、私は多くのことを学びました。最初の一歩を踏み出し、どんなにゆっくりでも、足を引きずろうが這おうが、雨の日も晴れの日も、病気であろうが健康であろうが、幸せであろうが悲しんでいようが、歩き続ければ、必ず目的地にたどり着くということを学びました。最初は距離が長く広く感じるかもしれませんが、一歩一歩、一日一日を積み重ねていくことで、始まりと終わりの間の溝をゆっくりと埋めていくのです。
自分がどこへ向かっているのかを明確に理解しておく必要があることを学びました。心に迷いがあってはなりません。そうすれば、たとえ道の途中で邪魔に遭遇しても、すぐに迷ってしまうでしょう。自分がどこへ向かうべきかをはっきりと理解しているからです。あなたは自分の道にしっかりと根を下ろしているのです。
明確なビジョンができたら、旅を楽しみましょう。目的地は決して旅ほど甘美なものではありません。常に一日一日、一瞬一瞬に集中しなければなりません。明日は良くなりません。すべては今この瞬間に。人生は今まさに誕生しつつあるのです。
道から外れても、標識を無視しないでください。楽な道を選ぼうとしたり、近道を探したりしないでください。いつかは道に立ち向かわなければなりません。上り坂も下り坂も違いはありません。どちらも旅にとって重要であり、同じ鳥の二つの同じ翼なのです。
道は時に、美しい自然や、悠々と流れる川で満ち溢れていることを覚えておいてください。また時には、高速道路を逆走しながら、轢かれないように気をつけながら、ただ一日を乗り切ることを願って歩くこともあるでしょう。道はどれも同じで、永遠ではありません。地形は常に変化します。最も重要なのは、同じ方向へ進み続けることです。
毎日、驚きの連続です。良いことも悪いことも、受け入れることを忘れないでください。周りの美しい景色を心ゆくまで楽しんでください。そして、いつも立ち止まって手を差し伸べましょう。時間通りに到着することよりも、元気な気持ちで到着することの方が大切です。
体と心を大切にしましょう。あなたが注ぎ込むものと同じだけの結果が得られます。食べ過ぎは禁物ですが、体を十分にケアしましょう。良質な睡眠の力を決して侮ってはいけません。そして心についてですが、否定的な意見を言う人や噂話をする人と一緒に長くいてはいけません。心を慣れさせないようにしましょう。静かに一人でいる方がずっと良いのです。
他人のスピードに合わせて歩こうとしないでください。自分の足の速さよりも速く歩けば、すぐに疲れてしまいます。ゆっくり歩けば、それも飽きてしまいます。人生には、自分だけのペースを見つけましょう。そして、自分の心臓の鼓動が聞こえるリズムで歩き、魂から湧き上がる静かな歌に耳を澄ませましょう。
集中しつつも、柔軟性も大切にしましょう。頑固だと脆くなってしまうことがあります。心の柔軟性は、人生をより強固なものにします。ネガティブなことはすぐに忘れ、人生の良いことすべてに感謝しましょう。それが、人生を何倍にも増やす魔法の秘訣なのです。足に水ぶくれができ、膝が痛み、背中が痛くても、あなたの唇はまだ笑顔になる力を持っていることを思い出してください。
何よりも、答えは常に「愛」です。常に。

Beautiful! I walked the Camino in 2011, part of it, though experienced the same. I think the pilgrimage has a unique meaning for each of the pilgrims, but at the same time, it is amazingly surprising that most of us experienced the same. Buen Camino!

you can't even imagine how this letter parallels your walk - your path - with that ofcountless others on a similar path realization. The parallels were striking. I began reading your passage and envisoned you on this walk but, my vision grew into something much more magnanimous, realizing that this is the metaphoric key - to achieve your goal of a 37 day walk yes but of me and untold others of our own life's destination. My journey has no destination, no vision, no direction. It is not measured by time (days, hours) or distance (miles or kilometers). It is exciting all the time. I am learning all the time. I do not know whether it is of any value to anyone else. So i keep to myself.

As one who's been on a 6-year journey to raise awareness about invisible homeless children, youth and families in America, I relate to Ms. Mehta's insightful observations. She walked. I downsized and have lived in a small motorhome, chronicling non-urban homelessness and poverty, reliant on others for support of my endeavors. Each step has been a mystery and a marvel.
