ungekuwa na uzito wa tani bilioni sita. Tani bilioni sita
sawa na uzito wa pamoja wa kila mnyama
duniani. Ikiwa ni pamoja na wadudu. Mara tatu.
Tani bilioni sita inaonekana haiwezekani
mpaka nifikirie jinsi ilivyo kumeza huzuni—
kijiko tu cha chai na mtu anaweza pia kuwa ametumia
nyota ya neutroni. Jinsi ni mnene,
jinsi inavyobeba ndani yake kumbukumbu ya kuanguka.
Jinsi ni vigumu kusonga basi.
Jinsi haiwezekani kuamini kwamba chochote
inaweza kuinua uzito huo.
Kuna sababu nyingi za kutibu kila mmoja
kwa huruma kubwa. Moja ni
muujiza mkubwa kwamba tuko hapa pamoja
kwenye sayari iliyozungukwa na nyota zinazokufa.
Moja ni kwamba hatuwezi kuona nini
mtu mwingine yeyote amemeza.
