Berpusu-pusu melalui lapangan terbang, saya berhenti untuk membeli air. Di peti sejuk kedai, seorang lelaki membongkok, memuatkan botol ke dalamnya. Saya menjangkau dia dan mengeluarkan satu yang dia masukkan. Dia mendongak, berhenti bekerja, mengambil botol dari rak lain, dan menghulurkannya kepada saya, sambil berkata "Yang ini sejuk." Saya mengucapkan terima kasih dan mengambil yang dia tawarkan.
Dia tidak mengenali saya dan tidak akan melihat saya lagi. Tugasnya adalah membuat stok, bukan perkhidmatan pelanggan. Dia sibuk dan kelihatan letih. Tetapi dia meluangkan masa untuk mendaftar bahawa saya telah mendapat sebotol suam, dan dia cukup mengambil berat untuk menukar gear dan membuat saya sejuk. Dia doakan saya selamat.
Saya dapat melihat matanya yang mesra semasa saya menulis sekarang, seminggu kemudian. Ia hanya sebotol air. Tetapi saya berasa hangat dengan kebaikannya dan didorong oleh niat baiknya.
Menyedari niat positif orang lain, kita berasa lebih selamat, lebih disokong dan lebih bahagia. Dan apabila orang lain merasakan bahawa anda mendapat niat baik mereka, mereka berasa dilihat, dihargai, dan lebih cenderung untuk melayan anda dengan baik.
Tetapi sukar untuk mengenali muhibah orang lain. Kami sibuk dan terganggu dan tertekan. Matlamat positif sering terkubur di bawah tingkah laku negatif. Kecenderungan negatif semula jadi otak sentiasa mengimbas berita buruk, niat buruk. Otak juga bertindak balas terhadap kebaharuan, jadi ia cenderung untuk mengabaikan banyak niat positif yang merangkumi kebanyakan kehidupan seharian sambil menyoroti yang negatif sekali-sekala.
Jadi anda perlu aktif mencari niat yang baik. Kemudian anda akan dapati mereka di sekeliling anda—sebuah tingkap ke arah kebaikan yang mendalam dalam setiap makhluk, tidak kira betapa kaburnya.
Bagaimana?
Luangkan sedikit masa untuk mengenali banyak niat baik—matlamat, tujuan, hasrat—yang anda ada pada hari biasa.
Niat baik tidak perlu suci. Ingin menikmati secawan kopi, makan sarapan pagi yang lazat, mengunci pintu di belakang anda, pergi bekerja tepat pada masanya, berhati-hati, berasa selamat, menjaga keluarga, menjadi orang yang baik, mengelakkan masalah, mengurangkan kesakitan, menikmati sesuatu yang manis, tidak bertengkar, hidup untuk melihat matahari terbit—semua ini adalah niat yang baik.
Kebanyakan niat baik akan menjadi kecil. Tetapi mereka masih penting. Cuba bayangkan bencana jika anda menggantikan niat baik anda dengan niat buruk! Pasti, sesetengah niat tidak begitu baik, seperti keinginan untuk menguasai, melakonkan keinginan yang ketagihan atau membuang perasaan negatif kepada orang lain. Tetapi untuk hampir semua orang, majoriti besar niat adalah niat yang baik. Biarkan ia menjadi perasaan, rasa yang kuat dalam badan anda, bahawa anda adalah seseorang yang mempunyai niat yang baik.
Bercakap dengan rakan, sedar tentang niat positifnya. Bagaimana perasaan melihat mereka? Cuba ini secara rutin dengan orang yang anda sayangi. Saya mendapati bahawa melakukan ini membantu saya memahami orang lain dengan lebih baik serta membuka hati saya. Jika sesuai, beritahu orang lain apa yang telah anda pelajari; mendengar pengiktirafan tentang niat baik seseorang boleh menjadi pengalaman yang hebat.
Cuba lihat niat baik orang yang tidak dikenali berjalan di jalan—atau lapangan terbang. Anda akan melihat banyak budi bahasa, usaha untuk melakukan kerja yang baik, keinginan untuk memahami atau difahami, kesetiaan kepada rakan dan tujuan, permainan adil dan kebaikan. Amalan ini membuatkan saya gembira, dan memberikan saya rasa yang lebih kuat tentang kemanusiaan kita yang sama.

article (technically)..but I surely see also the danger as pointed out by the
reply of Bei Yin. To ad also a critical but appreciating comment. It's not
entirely about the article but about it's base/ foundation. actually the first
sentence,, .'let our intentions be good.' What is good? what is intention? what
is the action (of letting be)? We write about it if intention and good are two
separate things. If there is a commonsense or common-consensus of 'good' and
the values that this contains and that intention is a thing we let
happen. Maybe it’s just me, and that is certainly the case, but I see things
this way; If one doesn’t dissociate oneself
from his or her intention and trains oneself to walk in line with this
intention we won’t have to spend energy in forging ourselves on terms like good
or intention. We wouldn’t have to spend any energy in creating world images of
good behavior and their fruits. Instead we would just create, we do every
moment. And the fact that there are billions of people around just means you
are not alone, make use of that instead of convicting it.

This was upgraded during centuries with religious and spiritual beliefs and confirmed in our times by intellectual scientific views and concepts. Lifestyle or behavior of people hardly have changed to a better one, in contrary: the ways and tricks to survive with ones established personality are developing with the same speed as the level of stress is rising up, with the result of disease and destruction on all levels of existence. At the moment all questions are answered by the established mindset from society, anything else is ignored and rejected. As long this behavior is not questioned, there is no way out. So what might be your *question*? That for sure I will answer, with the 'good intention' to have an exchange from that every body around can benefit...
