Umil egon. Egon lurretik gertu. Hori da existentzia honen muina, esan zidaten.
Eta, beraz, urteak daramatzat "gutxiago-gehiago" bizitza bizitzearekin borrokan aritu naizela dirudien munduan, modu guztietan, ekonomikoki, fisikoki, psikologikoki lehertzen ari dela.
Sentimendu hori "bi-bata-bateko" eskemetan galtzen da.
Badirudi bereganatu eta zabaldu beharra dagoela. Eta ez da gure bizitza pertsonal eta materialean bakarrik. Startupek eskalatzea nahi dute; hori da beraientzat etaparik kritikoena. Nola zabaltzen gara? Nola robotizatzen dugu prozesua azkartu ahal izateko?
Irabazi-asmorik gabeko erakundeek "inpaktu" txostenetarako datuak bildu behar dituzte, haien ideiak berritzaileak ez ezik, eskalagarriak direla erakutsiz.
Zenbakien joko bat da hazteko eta, ahal bada, esponentzialki hazteko. Hori da arrakastaren seinale: zenbakizko hazkundea.
Denak eskala izan behar du. Eskalagarritasuna jasangarritasuna bezalakoa da orain - abstraktuegia eta konplexuegia den beste kontzeptu sinple bat.
Hala ere, jasangarria zena ezin da gehiago izan, errusiar mendien abiaduran bizi garelako. Herri txikietako komertzioek erraldoien aurka borrokatzen dute ezin dutelako “eskala” edo, agian, nahi ez dutelako. Ez da egokia Los Angeles barruko hirirako, Detroitera ere. Sinesgarria ez da lehorteak eragindako Afrikako Sahel eskualdean bakarrik, baita Indiako mendebaldeko lur lehorrean ere.
Enpresa batek arrakasta du komunitatetik haratago joateko bitartekoak baditu, ehunka, milaka, milioika bizitzan eragina izateko gaitasuna badu. Negozio bati arrakasta deritzo koipeak dituenean.
Eskala guztiok nahi izan beharko genukeen zerbait da. Hori da inbertitzaileek bilatzen dutena, hori da diru-laguntzen arduradunek bilatzen dutena, hori da ekintzaileek irrikatzen dutena.
Baina, geure buruari galdetu behar diogu, ba al dago honek guztiak mugarik? Eskalagarritasunak benetan konpontzen al ditu gure arazoak? Ez al da posible gizarte-enpresa anitzak izatea, tokiko arazoei beren modu berezian aurre eginez? Ezin al da negozio batek tokiko/eskualde mailan bere hazkundea mugatzea, tokiko komunitatetik, bere baliabideetatik, bere nekazaritzatik, bere giza kapitalarekin aurrera eginez?
Ezin al ditugu mikroenpresak erreplikatu ordez herrialde osoan? Produkzio eta zerbitzu unitate zentral bat eduki beharrean, ezin al ditugu sortu ekosistema txikiagoak eta inklusiboagoak?
Adibidez, aurreko zutabe batean, San Frantziskoko Bicycle Coffee Co.-ri buruz idatzi nuen. Kafea eskuz erretzea eta bizikleta gainean ematea erabaki zuen. Horrek esan nahi du hain urrun bakarrik joan daitekeela, txahalek uzten dieten neurrian.
Baina dagoeneko nazioarteko enpresarengana hurbildu da konpainia, mundu osoko hirietara beren negozio ereduarekin gonbidatuz. Beraz, eskalatzen al dira edo badiatik gertu geratzen dira?
Hemen eskalatzeak negozio eredua lokalizatutako talde batekin, eskualdeko baliabideekin eta inguruko kultura xurgatzea suposa dezake. Mikro-enpresak sortzea izango litzateke, zeinak aurpegi desberdinak jartzen dituzten lekuan. Ez iturri zentralik, ez produkzio zentralik. Baina oraindik eskala al duzu?
Gelditu al gaitezke? Gutxitu gaitezke? Nahiz eta ordaindu dezakegun, doakoa bada ere, gure atarian eserita egonda ere. Alde egin dezakegu? Eraiki al dezakegu eskala berri bat — eskala txikiago, xumeagoa, hautsez betea, lurraren zakartasunarekin, auzokideen borrokekin, lur landuaren mugen barruan?
Izan al ditzakegu barrura begiratzen duten ametsak, gure buruan eta elkarren arteko loturak sakonduz, kanporantz eskalatu beharrean?
Agian horrek esan nahi du hazkundea birplanteatu behar dugula.

Truly agree with this post. It is time to rethink and look for the scale inwards.
Love this post - I really agree that scale is not always feasible and perhaps should not be so celebrated. Making a true and deep impact in 1 community can sometimes be harder than making a superficial impact on a large scale (which is what often happens). It becomes more about the outputs than the impact.
Under the present condition, it's way to late to SCALE BACK. The world is on a roller coaster ride to bigness. :(

I think there is a lack of understanding. It was yesterday i said
everything are agreeable. Take that easy and once problem is solved, let
it be solved.

Diversity means an ecosystem is healthy. Diversity in de-centralized small scale enterprises would expand our ability to imagine and create as we are inspired by that which is different and soon bored by replications That would give us humans a chance to grow mentally, spiritually, open our sights and free our potentials.
The sustainable model is smaller but dustier? I think not, this isn't a backwards scaling this is conscious intent. The oversized lumbering corporate model is the dustiest for it is based on old science of compete and dominate. That premise supported "winner take all: attitudes that pushed the growth buttons. Now we have scientific evidence of our errors.
Cooperation, collaboration, whole systems health and welfare connected, interrelated patterns that are designed to expand stimulate possibilities. Instead we appear as stunned by a cancer "we" set loose to control the global economy and it is proving deadly.
The dis-ease is fed by a banking system run like a game of musical chairs, (more lose so fewer can win, until yup winner take all aka a nihilist prospect) So "they who were given the privilege to create money (debt) -have abused the privilege and our blind obedience to the dharma of growth is making us ill and shallow... how sad.
What has real value? Let us concentrate on building that up. Each community, group or person can stand up for that thing, action idea. Make noise, art, sing talk about the real stuff and engage others in the "change." . As we learn to help and trust each other we will start to feel healthier, stronger, more alive. The dis-ease will not thrive without our energy. Putting our energy into alternative paths, building for life, seeking to thrive and nurture everyone's potential will change everything else. We find what we seek, no?
