"Uue päeva lüürika"

Olgu see päev

Me tuleme kokku.

Lein, hakkame parandama,

Närtsinud, jõuame ilmale,

Rebenenud, hakkame hoolitsema,

Löönud, jõuame paremuse poole.

Selle igatsuse aastaga seotud,

Me õpime

Kuigi me polnud selleks valmis,

Meid on selleks ette valmistatud.

Me tõotame kindlalt, et ükskõik

Kuidas meid kaalutakse,

Peame alati sillutama teed edasi.

*

See lootus on meie uks, meie portaal.

*

Mis oli neetud, seda me ravime.

Mis oli vaevatud, selle me tõestame puhtaks.

Seal, kus kipume vaidlema, püüame kokku leppida,

Need varandused, mille vandusime, on nüüd tulevik, mida me ette näeme,

Seal, kus me polnud teadlikud, oleme nüüd ärkvel;

Need hetked, millest me ilma jäime

Kas need hetked, mida me praegu teeme,

Hetked, mil me kohtume,

Ja meie südamed, kui kõik koos löödi,

Nüüd löövad kõik koos.

*

Tule, vaata veel heldusega üles,

Sest isegi lohutust võib saada kurbusest.

Me mäletame, mitte ainult eilse päeva pärast,

Aga homme ette võtta.

*

Me võtame arvesse seda vana vaimu,

Uue päeva laulusõnades

Oma südames kuuleme seda:

Sest auld lang syne, mu kallis,

For auld lang syne.

Olge julge, laulge sel aastal Time,

Ole julge, laula Time,

Sest kui austad eilset,

Homme leiate.

Tea, mille vastu oleme võidelnud

Ei pea unustama ega ka mitte.

See määratleb meid, seob meid üheks,

Tule kohale, liitu selle päevaga, mis just alanud on.

Sest kus iganes me kokku tuleme,

Me saame igavesti üle.

I didn’t want to get out of bed today; Christmas Eve. Thus year my husband died unexpectedly and I was diagnosed with breast cancer. But this…this gorgeous poem inspires me to reach and grow and yse what was to create what might be. I’m so grateful to have come across it.

As we move closer to January 2025, Amanda Gorman"s poetic insights continue to stimulate reflection. May we meet the challenges of 2025 with this spirit of resilience, perseverance, hope, concern for the common good and peace.

Amanda Gorman is one of the millions of young folks that we old folks need to pay attention to and learn from. I hear people saying young people know nothing, which shows simply how little we know.
